General Sexual Assault Statistics 

·       Nearly 1 in 5 (18.3%) women and 1 in 71 men (1.4%) reported experiencing rape at some time in their lives.(1) ·       On average, there are 321,500 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year in the United States.(3) ·       94% of women who are raped experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms during the two weeks following the rape.(4)

Dating and Student Assault Statistics

·11.2% of all students experience rape or sexual assault through physical force, violence, or incapacitation (among all graduate and undergraduate students)(2) · About 1 in 4 women (24.3%) and 1 in 7 men (13.8%) have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner (e.g., hit with a fist or something hard, beaten, slammed against something) at some point in their lifetime.(1)

· National Center for Missing & Exploited Children estimated that 1 in 6 endangered runaways reported to them were likely sex trafficking victims · Globally, the International Labor Organization estimates that there are 4.5 million people trapped in forced sexual exploitation globally. · “Today only 6 out of every 1,000 rapists will end up in prison” (5)
